Dry Shake Concrete Floors The use of dry shake concrete floors has been increasing at a considerable rate over the past few years, and the use of Dry Shake in art galleries, shops and retail warehouses has led the way in the use of concrete as an acceptable finished floor for all uses. In some safety sensitive locations an additional Slip Resistant quality is necessary. Most textured surfaces become less slip resistant as they become smoother with traffic. Dry shake floors become more slip resistant with the passing of Traffic, they improve the slip resistance in age. To speed up the process and make a dry shake floor more slip resistant, Texturcare have developed a treatment to chemically age the floor and expose some of the particles in the surface. Very high slip resistance values are achieved even in wet conditions.
Chemical Ageing will give permanent effect provided it is used on concrete floors, which have been constructed incorporating a dry shake and repeated power floating. The dry shake must be one based on alloy aggregate with Aggregate Abrasion value of 1.0 (BS 812; Part 113; 1989) and must have been applied at 7Kg/sw M. minimum. Texturcare are the approved Contractors for the completion of this chemical ageing process. |
